Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Summary/Duties:
The Mechanical Engineering Department at The University of Memphis (UofM) invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on qualifications of applicants, starting August 2024. The positions will undertake research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in all areas related to metal additive manufacturing.
Qualifications:
Assistant Professor - A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical engineering, or a closely related field by the expected start date. Advanced ABDs will be considered, but doctoral degree must be earned by the start date of the position.
Associate Professor - A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical engineering, or a closely related field with at least 42 months of experience in as an independent researcher and or instructor in the Mechanical or closely related discipline.
Professor - A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical engineering, or a closely related field with at least 10 years of experience in research and or instruction in the Mechanical or closely related discipline.

The Department currently has 14 faculty positions and an enrollment of about 350 students pursuing B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. A state-of-the-art Metal Additive Manufacturing Laboratory (MAML) was established at UofM in 2018 housing two powder bed fusion printers, in addition to characterization and post-process equipment. A new modern research building is currently under construction in the engineering complex which will house the Advanced Manufacturing research laboratory, complementing the existing MAML.
