The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Temple University has an opening for a non-tenure track faculty position with an anticipated start date of the Spring 2025 semester. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or in a closely related field. Practical experience in industry or non-academic research institutions will be viewed favorably. Applicants with a background in teaching thermo-fluids courses and labs are particularly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, supervising capstone (senior design) projects, pedagogical innovation and scholarship, curriculum development, and program coordination.
This is a non-tenure-track, renewable open-rank position with excellent benefits and the possibility of a long-term contract based on performance. Senior appointments at the Associate and Full Professor of Instruction rank will be considered for applicants with a strong record of teaching and curriculum development, as well as demonstrated pedagogical scholarship. Temple has an active network of non-tenure track faculty dedicated to effective teaching, supported by excellent resources including the Center for the Advancement of Teaching.
Temple University is a Carnegie-classified doctoral university at the highest tier of research activity. The mechanical engineering department has 14 full-time faculty members, and approximately 300 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET as well as several graduate degrees.
