Job Description

The Department of Computer Science (CS) at Old Dominion University invites applicants for an annual 10-month Lecturer position, to begin July 25, 2025. The Lecturer will teach a broad range of undergraduate courses, from beginning programming courses in Java and Python to the advanced courses typical of a CS undergraduate program, and have a typical faculty service load.

Candidates must have an M.S. or the equivalent in Computer Science.

Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities

Candidates must have the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses, from beginning programming courses in Java and Python to the advanced courses typical of a CS undergraduate program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science with the accompanying ability or experience to teach graduate courses in Computer Science.
  • Ability to teach Data Science, Cybersecurity and/or Web Applications.
  • Experience in course development for in person instruction and synchronous and asynchronous distance learning environments.
  • Experience teaching and managing large course sections and courses.
  • Experience teaching and managing courses with formal laboratory components.
