An individual is sought with experience developing mathematical models for physical systems. Experience modeling aerodynamic or hydrodynamic systems is a strongly desired. The initial task will be to analyze time series data to develop a predictive model covering the entire range of operating conditions tested. The individual will be required assess the quality of each data set and make appropriate adjustments for timing. While there are some guidelines for the form of the model, hypothesizing different formulas and possible memory effects is part of the task, not just executing a fitting process. A black-box model is not an acceptable solution as what is being sought is a physical explanation for the observed process. The data set consists of multiple time series where each series contains many repeated occurrence of an event of interest. frequency and magnitude of the event is varied over many time series. The event is characterized by a waveform and the conditions causing the waveform. The relationship characterizing the relationship between the test conditions and the waveform is sought. An undergraduate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline is required.
