Primary Purpose of Position
This is a year-to-year appointment, renewable annually subject to satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs. The research associate will function with substantial independence to support research activities in the areas of water quality, and ecological engineering in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design at the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The research activities include all the activities in the research continuum including but not limited to design, development, execution, sample analysis, data analysis, publication, and extension/outreach. The successful candidate will enjoy a dynamic and collaborative work environment with our interdisciplinary research team, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has a rich history of innovation and application of cutting-edge technology. From our pioneering Laboratory Animal Science and Landscape Architecture programs to our award-winning Cooperative Extension and Agricultural Research programs, our faculty and staff serve today’s needs while keeping an eye on the future. With programs and expertise in such areas as agricultural and biosystems engineering, biotechnology, natural resources management, waste management, and food microbiology, the A&T College of Agriculture grows concurrently with the demand for qualified graduates. Our four academic departments are the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education; the Department of Animal Sciences; the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design. Within these departments, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, research and field work. Through our Agricultural Research Program and our Cooperative Extension Program, we are able to research issues of importance to North Carolina and provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world.
MS in Biosystems/Biological Engineering or Civil/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or related field.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Related field conducted projects related to hydrology, water quality, phytoremediation, and ecological engineering experience with design and development of field and laboratory-based research prior experience with analysis of suite of pollutants such as pesticides, antimicrobial resistance genes, and veterinary medicines worked with sensors and instrumentation demonstrated record of publishing.
Preference will be given to the candidate who has earned PhD in Biosystems/Biological Engineering or Civil/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
