The Nanomaterials and Energy Systems Laboratory (NESL) seeks highly motivated PhD and Postdoc applicants with an interest in electrochemical energy conversion and storage systems, materials science, and electrochemistry. In particular, we are looking for candidates with a strong background in three-electrode electrochemical systems to perform independent experiments and characterization for hydrogen transport and CO2 capture and conversion. Other activities in NESL include novel cathode and anode materials, as well as state-of-the-art solid-state electrolytes, that can be used in a plethora of battery systems such as Li-air, Li-CO2, Li/Na-ion, and more. The positions are fully funded by DOE and ARPA-E grants, offering the opportunity to collaborate with a strong multidisciplinary team of engineers, computational scientists, and more. The starting date is immediate.

Required qualifications:
• PhD/Master/Bachelor degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, or any related field.
• Hands-on experience in electrochemical measurements, including the operation of necessary equipment and instruments (such as potentiostats, three-electrode cells, flow cell system, gas chromatography, NMR, etc).
