The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Science at the Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a Visiting Instructor position, beginning in August 2025. This is a one-year, full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track appointment.
We are seeking a teaching-focused individual to provide in-person instruction to students in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) program—one of two programs within the department. The BME program offers a rigorous foundation in engineering principles applied to the medical and biological sciences, preparing students for careers in healthcare innovation, biotechnology, and medical device development.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience or strong potential in biomedical engineering education, a passion for student learning, and the ability to contribute to curriculum development.
Responsibilities:
Teach up to four undergraduate and/or graduate courses per semester, including:

BME 3030 – Biofluid Mechanics

BME 5780 – Biomedical Engineering Analysis I

Develop and deliver new elective courses that enhance the Biomedical Engineering curriculum.

Employ effective instructional strategies and integrate educational technologies to promote student engagement.

Foster a supportive and intellectually stimulating learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving.
Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field is required.

Demonstrated ability or strong potential for excellence in teaching biomedical engineering courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Commitment to academic excellence, student engagement, and continuous instructional improvement.
