Position Description:
A multidisciplinary research team from the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical, Automotive and Materials Engineering at the University of Windsor is seeking an outstanding, highly motivated candidate for an immediate postdoctoral
researcher opening working in the field of biosensors and organic electronics. The candidate will take a leading role in the fabrication and characterization of new biosensors based on organic field-effect transistors. An important part of the project will also be dedicated to surface functionalization of various substrates with biomolecules, and optimization of the performance of the new sensors.

Main responsibilities:
Fabrication of organic transistors using standard techniques (lithography, solution processing, metal deposition, etc.); functionalization of substrates with proteins, and characterization of the self-assembly; electrical testing of the device through capacitance, voltage and current measurements; redaction of manuscripts and reports, publication and presentations of the research results, and assistance with writing, research grants, IP protection documents, etc. Research Environment: The position will be bridging multiple research disciplines across Chemical and Biochemical Sciences, and Materials and Electrical Engineering. This research will be performed jointly between the groups of Profs. Simon Rondeau-Gagné (Chemistry and Biochemistry), Yufeng Tong (Chemistry and Biochemistry), Mitra Mirhassani (Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Jalal Ahamed (Mechanical, Automotive and Materials Engineering). S. Rondeau-Gagné and J. Ahamed will perform the primary supervision of the project.
Prospective candidates should have previous hands-on experience in organic electronics and/or biosensors, including device fabrication, electrical detection, surface functionalization, optimization, and characterization. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for this position, especially in the context of a highly multidisciplinary effort. As part of the Postdoctoral training, the applicant will be required to help supervise and train graduate and undergraduate students with varied disciplinary backgrounds. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possible extension. The position is open to start in January 2021. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
