Position Details
The Ashraf lab at the University of Texas at Arlington is seeking multiple post-doctoral research associates with a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or other closely related disciplines including material science, chemistry, and chemical engineering. The post-doctoral research associate will work with Dr. Warda Ashraf on multiple federal and state-funded research projects. Visit https://ashraflab.uta.edu/ to learn more about our research.
The post-doctoral position will start as early as July 2024. The initial appointment will be for one year and can be extended based on mutual agreement.
Research Areas:
- CO2 mineralization in alkaline waste and (ii) Rheological properties of cementitious materials.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or related field with research experience on cementitious materials
- Proven record of research accomplishments through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national/ international conferences
- Strong fundamental understanding of various low-carbon cementitious materials
- Experimental skill in processing/characterizations of cementitious materials (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team environment with strict deadlines
- Oral and written communication skills in English, and self-motivation with strong work ethics
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct nano/micro-scale experimental investigations on low-carbon cementitious materials.
- Analyze data, prepare project reports, and draft high-quality scientific publications.
- Present project updates to the federal sponsors regularly.
