The Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics at McGill University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Infrastructure/Structural Engineering, preferably at the Assistant Professor level. Rank will be determined by the qualifications of the successful applicant and salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. McGill University is among the top research-intensive academic institutions in Canada, attracting over one-half billion dollars in competitive research funding each year. It has been consistently ranked in the top 50 universities worldwide in a number of recent surveys. Successful candidates will play leading roles in maintaining McGill’s international reputation of excellence in research, teaching and service.

Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: structural analysis; concrete structures; steel structures; bridge engineering; structural evaluation and rehabilitation; and seismic analysis and design. The Department has strong research activities in infrastructure engineering, structural engineering, materials, environmental engineering, geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics and water resources engineering and transportation engineering. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching in its undergraduate and graduate programs in Civil Engineering and values service contributions of its Faculty members to the University, the profession and society at-large.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., with a first degree in Civil Engineering. Evidence of outstanding research achievements, or research potential, is indispensable. Preferred qualifications include dedication to an environment that supports diversity of population and perspectives; as our students come from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds, we invite candidates to address in their application their ability to teach, supervise, and mentor in this context. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the mission of the University, through outstanding activities in the areas of research, teaching and service. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.

Applications will be accepted immediately and will be reviewed on a continuing basis until November 30 2018.
