FACULTY POSITION SCHOOL OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in Robotics, with focus on a fundamental core area (e.g., Sensors, Controls, Autonomy) as well as an application area (such as human-assistive technologies, medical or surgical devices, space exploration, or other related area). Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline and demonstrate potential to build a research program, as well as potential to educate and mentor students. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College and University levels. Candidates with experience working with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff and the ability to contribute to an inclusive climate are particularly encouraged to apply.
Programs in the School of Mechanical Engineering are consistently ranked among the best in the nation. The School of Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest schools at Purdue University and one of the largest in the nation with 1500 undergraduates, 700 graduate students, 90 faculty, and 80 staff. The School of Mechanical Engineering is home of Herrick, Zucrow and Maha research laboratories with significant infrastructure and a long tradition of collaboration with industry and national laboratories. Mechanical Engineering faculty members also carry out a significant portion of research at the Birck Nanotechnology Center of Purdue University. The Bechtel Innovation Design Center and Maker Spaces provide extensive hands-on experiences together with an entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem through the Purdue Foundry and Discovery Park.
