Job Description:
Applications are invited for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University. We invite applicants with a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related fields) from recognized institutions and a proven record of academic accomplishment. The broad research areas of interest include simulation and modeling in chemical engineering. Examples include: molecular modeling, fluids or transport modeling and or multi-scale / process systems modeling.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching courses in chemical engineering and to build a strong research program through independent and collaborative work. The incumbent in this faculty position will have a part-time teaching load of undergraduate and/or graduate course in the subject of chemical engineering and a part-time research appointment. They are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching courses in chemical engineering and to build a strong research program through independent and collaborative work.

45% Teach undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering courses.

45% Lead a recognized and sustainable research program, which results in procuring external funding and leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals, along with associated service in support of the research mission and reputation of the unit. Supervising graduate student research.

10% Provide service to LSU, the chemical engineering profession and the community

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in chemical engineering or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field. Ph.D. candidates will be considered, as long as the Ph.D. is obtained by August 15, 2022.

About the department: The Cain Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the first undergraduate programs in chemical engineering with roots in the Audubon Sugar School (1897). For over 100 years, our faculty and alumni have established an outstanding record of scholarship, manufacturing and service to our profession and communities. Our department has recently moved to a new building and our growing faculty continues to honor our longstanding mission.
