The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has for about 100 years has been home to many internationally respected academics and produced graduates who have made tremendous strides in the engineering profession. The School currently has about 850 undergraduate and 250 postgraduate students.
The School is inviting application for the permanent position at the following levels.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
At the Senior Lecturer Level, a Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related field is required. A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is essential. The successful candidate will have research interest or experience in Geotechnical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Evidence of teaching and research is essential. Evidence of teaching and research is essential. Professional registration or eligibility for professional registration is a requirement.
At the Lecturer Level, a Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related field if preferable. However, consideration will be given to exceptional applicants with a Master's degree and great potential in pursuing a Doctoral degree. A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is essential. The successful candidate will have a research interest or experience in Geotechnical Engineering. Evidence of teaching and research is essential. Professional registration or eligibility for professional registration is recommended.
The successful applicant will lecture Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering courses as well as other undergraduate Civil Engineering coourses. The successful applicant will lecture postgraduate courses in Geotechnical Engineering and participate in the administration of the School. He/she will develop a productive research programme in the discipline, supervise the research of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
