The desire to introduce cyber technologies into our curriculum has created a demand for a full-time Civil Engineer to assist faculty in creating course content and homework assignments, managing unmanned aerial vehicles and data acquisition systems, developing content related to 3D printing, supporting virtual and augmented reality content design and development, and assist student learning. The successful applicant will also be responsible for staying up to date with various Civil Engineering software and hardware applications including GIS, remote sensing, database applications, AutoCAD/Revit, and data acquisition techniques related to cyber infrastructure. The Technology Coordinator will use this knowledge to work with faculty to help integrate cyber and software applications across the curriculum and become a resource for undergraduate and graduate students seeking assistance. The Coordinator would also be expected to become a licensed UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) pilot and become versed in virtual and augmented reality technologies for civil, construction, environmental, and nuclear engineering applications.

COMPENSATION: $39,300 to $65,000/annual

WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Day, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional after hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop technology-based homework assignments for undergraduate classes and supporting lecture materials in collaboration with instructors;
2. Interact with and provide assistance to undergraduate students on cybertechnology modules;
3. Interact with local consulting firms and state engineering agencies to find examples to bring into the classroom;
4. Participate in on-the-job training to keep up with technological advances;
5. Assist graduate students with cybertechnolgy adoption (e.g. UAV flight planning and data processing, VR/AR research, data acquisition);
6. Develop VR/AR experiences for recruiting and classroom application

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or equivalency required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
Specific areas of expertise may be preferred by departments.
This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

PREFERENCES:
Undergraduate background in Civil and Environmental Engineering
Master’s degree in Engineering or closely related field or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of post-degree experience
Experience with CIVIL3D (or MicroStation), ArcGIS, and REVIT applications
Ability to become a licensed UAV pilot within one-year
Fluent in a programming language (e.g. Matlab, Python, R, C++)
Embedded programming experience highly desirable (e.g. Arduino, LabView)
Creative self-starter capable of adapting to new challenges and opportunities
