The Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute (BMEII) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research in the areas of wearable sensors and electronics. The candidate will have exciting opportunities to apply diverse and advanced engineering concepts in materials, mechanics, circuits, and manufacturing toward improving healthcare. Strategically positioned at the heart of a clinical environment, the candidate will have unique opportunities to engage in active clinical collaborations with faculty members and clinicians at Mount Sinai.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Design, fabrication, and functionality validation of wearable sensors and electronics
    • Collection, analysis, interpretation, and management of collected sensor data
    • Manuscript preparation, conference participation, contributions to grant applications, and mentorship of students.
  • Requirements: The candidate should have a Ph.D. or have defended their doctoral thesis in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field. Expertise in two or more of the following areas is highly desirable: human-machine interfaces, flexible electronics, circuit design, signal processing, and data analysis. Special considerations will be given for candidates with previous experience in clinical studies and sensor studies involving human subjects.

The BMEII at Mount Sinai is a 30,000 sq ft state-of-the-art research facility with a mission centered around development, validation, translation, and education of innovative technology in biomedical engineering to address both basic and clinical research problems. The center currently houses multiple research dedicated instrumentation, including 3T and 7T human MRI scanners, 3T PET/MR, PET/CT, 9.4T and 7T small animal MRI scanners. Along with the material resources, the BMEII has over 45 members with expertise in a variety of translational research, from neuroimaging to nanomedicine. BMEII’s new facility dedicated to sensor and hardware fabrication and development will be completed in 2023 to accelerate research on next generation wearables. Mount Sinai is located on the Upper East Side in New York City. Salary will be commensurate with the cost of living in the area. Subsidized housing close to the Mount Sinai campus is available for postdocs.
