The University of Tulsa Department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a postdoctoral researcher to support our recently awarded a U.S. Department of Defense project to develop novel multifunctional SiC/C composites. This project will integrate materials synthesis and manufacturing with fracture mechanics, macro- and micro-scale materials characterization, and thermal property characterization. The results will be used to develop a broad understanding of the manufacturing and performance of these advanced high temperature materials.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting experimental and computational research as it relates to developing novel high temperature composites.
- Integrating processing models using traditional and AI/ML approaches with experimental results.
- Overseeing graduate student research as it relates to project goals and meeting project milestones.
- Working with a diverse team of co-PIs, technicians, and graduate students.
- Writing reports and creating technical presentations.
- Presenting at conferences and leading publication efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in engineering field. Strong project management skills and a superior publication record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AI/ML methods for materials discovery.
Experience with experimental characterization of ceramic matrix composites.
