Assistant or Associate Professor, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.  The University of South Alabama invites applications for  two positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in all areas related to chemical, biomolecular, and biomedical engineering.  Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Biomolecular Engineering, or a closely related field and evidence of a commitment to teaching and research. For consideration of the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must demonstrate an established record of research and scholarly productivity.  Successful candidates must show a commitment to excellence in teaching and research; potential to grow a nationally-competitive research program; exceptional verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and a desire and ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department provides an ABET-accredited BSChE program, an MSChE program, a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering program, and participates in two further interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs – Systems Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering track of the Basic Medical Sciences program.   The Department has active research programs in areas including adsorptive materials, biomedical imaging, molecular modeling and simulation, and solution thermodynamics.  Major chemical and petroleum refining industries in the local area offer opportunities for industrial/academic collaborations, while numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations exist with the College of Medicine, Mitchell Cancer Institute, and the College of Arts and Sciences.  The College of Engineering has four departments: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; Civil, Coastal, and Environmental Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, as well as a program in Systems Engineering.
