Technion’s AE Department is a world-class academic hub for aeronautics and astronautics, dedicated to the creation, expansion and dissemination of ideas and knowledge in aerospace science and engineering. The AE Department is globally recognized (16th in the world according to the 2021 Shanghai Ranking), and it is committed to fostering interdisciplinary research that can address societal grand challenges.

We are looking to expand research programs with applications to autonomous aviation, air traffic management, and future aircraft design, high-efficiency energy systems in propulsion, hypersonic and high-speed air vehicles, underwater vehicles and platforms, and microsatellites and nanosatellites, among others. Based on our developmental vision, we are seeking to hire several faculty members with a strong commitment to excellence and potential for or a record of sustained scientific accomplishments.

We seek individuals with outstanding research achievements who will conduct independent world-class research, contribute to both undergraduate- and graduate-level teaching, and add to the professional diversity and internationality of our academic community. Exceptional candidates will be considered for all technical areas and at all ranks. Of particular interest are candidates focusing on the following scientific disciplines:

  • Multi-disciplinary Design & Optimization
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (including reacting and/or high-speed flows)
  • Experimental High-Speed Aerodynamics (including laser diagnostics)
  • Computational Solid Mechanics and Computational Structural Dynamics
  • Lightweight Structural Materials and Additive Manufacturing Technologies
  • Guidance, Navigation, Control, and Robotics
  • Orbital Mechanics and Attitude Dynamics
  • Data science, Signal processing, and Machine learning

The Technion is Israel’s primary technological university; its faculty members include three Nobel Laureates, and it is the major driver behind the growth of Israel’s high-tech industry. Enrolling around 400 undergraduate and 150 graduate students, the AE Department is the only academic entity in Israel dedicated to aerospace engineering education, and seeks to maintain a cutting-edge, international, and highly collaborative research environment. Successful candidates will receive a competitive start-up budget, recurring allowances (including an annual budget for research salaries and consumables), and state-of-the-art departmental facilities will be made available.

A review of applications will be ongoing until available positions are filled. Interested candidates should submit: (1) a cover letter briefly summarizing their scientific background, strengths, and plans, (2) a curriculum vitae including a list of publications, (3) a research statement, (4) a brief teaching statement, and (5) contact details of at least three references.
