Requirements
A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Environmental Remote Sensing or a related qualification with at least seven years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or an equivalent combination of relevant academic and industrial experience. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Proven competence in successful sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation, and management of research projects, curriculum development, and strong management/organisational and mentorship skills. Competence to develop high-quality course materials and teach the following courses at postgraduate level: Advanced Image Processing and Interpretation and Advanced Environmental Remote Sensing. Ability to play a leading role in departmental and faculty governance, administration and planning. Competence to assume academic leadership, to establish professional networks, and to maintain links with industry, as well as experience in developing postgraduate programmes. Sound research profile including ten peer-reviewed journals/books/conference proceedings and successful supervision of at least three Master’s (research) students.
