Velni Lab at Clemson University has immediate openings for two Postdoc Fellows (PDF) to work on the next generation of digital agricultural systems. On the first PDF vacancy, the assigned work entails developing new AI-driven and distributed computing tools for big data processing and decision making in field-based plant phenotyping. The applicants are expected to have demonstrated experience and published in data-driven digital agriculture during their PhD studies. On the second vacancy, the assigned work entails developing new algorithms and tools to control the environmental conditions (lighting and CO2) in greenhouses. The applicants for the second vacancy are expected to have prior knowledge of automation, control and AI applications in controlled environment agriculture demonstrated by prior publications. For both vacancies, some working knowledge of plant sciences, as well as strong knowledge of computational sciences (e.g., controls and machine learning) are required. Prior hands-on experience, either in the farm or in greenhouse, is desired although not required.
