REV@CONSTRUCTION (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-046123) co-funded by the ERDF - European Regional Development Fund, through the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation - COMPETE 2020 Programme.

GRANT DESCRIPTION
Type of grant: Research Grant (BI)
General scientific area: ENGINEERING
Scientific subarea: Computer engineering
Grant duration: 5 months 15 days, starting on 2023-01-16.
Scientific advisor: Nuno Miguel Abreu
Workplace: INESC TEC, Porto, Portugal
Maintenance stipend: € 875,98 ou 1144,64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants
(http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants ofINESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend. INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders". The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.

OBJECTIVES:
- Study of semantic segmentation techniques for point clouds; - Expand knowledge of the state of the art in the scientific area of 3D modeling of digital models; - Test of point cloud processing algorithms for 3D reconstruction of structures; - Develop research capacity through the application of selected methods; - Exercise critical thinking in evaluating the research process and the results obtained.

BRIEF PRESENTATION OF THE WORK PROGRAMME AND TRAINING:
- Elaboration and testing of point cloud processing methods to perform semantic segmentation; - Implementation of computational learning techniques; - Field data collection; - Validation of results; - Writing of the Scholarship report(s).

REQUIRED PROFILE:
Admission requirements:
Graduation degree or Master`s in electrical engineering, mechanics, information technology or related area. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree and only candidates with a Bachelor's degree will be hired if no Master's degree apply, or in case they apply, that the latter are not from the intended training area and/or do not have the experience referred to above. The awarding of the fellowship is dependent on the applicants' enrolment in study cycle or non-award courses of
Higher Education Institutions.

Preference factors:
Basic programming knowledge; Professional experience.

Minimum requirements:
Programming experience in C/C++ or Python
