The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the following areas: (1) Sustainable Infrastructure, with a focus on civil, construction, or environmental engineering, including sustainable development engineering or sustainable design, construction, and operation of the built environment and/or transportation systems; (2) Water Engineering, with a focus on mathematical and/or statistical modeling of groundwater, surface water, water quality, contaminant transport, sustainability, and/or hydroclimatic systems; and (3) Coastal Engineering, with a focus on mitigation of coastal hazards, resilient coastal structures and flow/wave -structure interaction systems, flood prediction and long-term flood adaptation, and/or the evaluation and prediction of coastal area dynamics. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of excellence and/or show exceptional promise for high-quality research, teaching, and professional development. Applicants must also clearly indicate accomplishments and future plans to satisfy three or more of the following areas: (a) engage in service with underrepresented populations in engineering; (b) demonstrate knowledge of barriers for underrepresented students and faculty in higher education; © build on past experience and/or demonstrate commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students; (d) integrate understanding of underrepresented populations and communities into research; (e) extend knowledge of how to achieve scholarly success as a member of an underrepresented group; (f) be committed to research that engages underrepresented communities; (g) show expertise in cross-cultural communication and collaboration; and (h) pursue research that contributes to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education.
