Assistant Professor - Mechanical Engineering

Position Summary:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University has an opening for a tenure-track faculty position in the general area of dynamics and control. The department has established research strengths in robotics, autonomy, machine learning, and nonlinear dynamics and control. Candidates are expected to complement and strengthen existing department research or develop new high-impact research directions.

Applications are invited in all areas in dynamics and control including, but not limited to, mobile robotics and unmanned vehicles, medical devices, human robot interaction, bio-inspired robotics, biomimetics, diagnostics, vibration control, and robotics and control for smart manufacturing systems. The position starts in August 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to develop a vibrant and sustainable research program, collaborate with faculty in the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics and Control (CENDAC) and the Villanova Center for Analytics of Dynamic Systems (VCADS), develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and engage in impactful service.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements include a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, a proven ability for high quality research, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation.
