The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the position of Department Chair and Professor. We are looking for a scholar with a multi-disciplinary focus; exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills; a transformative vision for the future of engineering in general and industrial engineering in particular; and a plan to realize that vision.
Applicants for the position must possess a PhD in Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field and be qualified for appointment as a tenured, full professor in the Swanson School of Engineering. They should have an established record of conducting high-quality sponsored research; producing impactful publications in leading journals; and a proven commitment to diversity and educational excellence at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels. We are especially looking for a leader who can leverage synergies across Pitt, other universities, and industry to build strong partnerships, including major centers, initiatives and industrial collaborations.
