PhD Position in Structural Engineering

Applications are invited for one PhD student funded on a research assistantship position starting in August 2022 in the Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics group at Marquette University under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Sen. Later start dates are possible depending on individual student circumstances. The student will lead research funded by the National Science Foundation on the development of repair and repair-oriented-design strategies for steel concentrically braced frames subjected to seismic loading. The student will prepare and test large-scale specimens in the Engineering Materials and Structural Testing Laboratory (EMSTL) and, subsequently, perform continuum finite-element analyses to inform recommendations for design and seismic performance evaluation.

Direct admission to the PhD program is possible for candidates with Bachelor of Science degrees (or equivalent) with exceptional academic history and/or professional experience.
