Assistant Professor - Water Resources Engineering/Fluid Mechanics – Montana State University

The Montana State University Department of Civil Engineering (CE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in water resources engineering/fluid mechanics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The CE Department offers BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, and a BS degree in Construction Engineering Technology. The Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering (NACOE) offers a PhD degree in engineering with a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Applied Mechanics option.

Founded in 1893 as a Land Grant University, Montana State University (MSU) is composed of eight academic colleges and a graduate school and boasts a friendly, supportive faculty and campus environment. Currently, the University hosts an enrollment of over 16,000 students, including around 2,000 graduate students. MSU is a Carnegie Foundation R1 university for its research activity and is one of only two universities with a very high undergraduate enrollment profile to achieve this designation.

The CE Department has 17 tenured or tenure-track faculty and offers ABET-accredited baccalaureate programs in both civil engineering and construction engineering technology, and graduate programs at the Master’s and PhD levels. Research opportunities within the Department are enhanced by ties with the Western Transportation Institute (WTI), the Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE), the Montana Engineering Education Research Center (MEERC) as well the resources available in the Subzero Laboratory Facility (SRL), all of which are part of the College of Engineering (COE).

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to CE undergraduate and graduate instruction, mentoring, and advising; develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; produce scholarly works; and participate in professional/service/outreach activities. All applications must be submitted through this site. Applicant screening will begin on October 1, 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
