The University of Dayton, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking a dynamic faculty member with a specialization in design and/or manufacturing at the rank of tenure track assistant professor to begin August 16, 2023.
The University of Dayton (UD) Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) has an opportunity to join a community deeply committed to faculty success, inclusive excellence, to education at all levels, and to collaboration in teaching within the department, across the University, and externally. Locally, the Dayton area offers unique opportunities for engineering faculty to collaborate with researchers at the Air Force Research Laboratory located at Wright-Patterson AFB, the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), and industry partners. The successful candidate will teach courses in the MAE department with a design and/or manufacturing focus that may include Mechanical Design, Multi-disciplinary Design, and Manufacturing Processes. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to engage and lead students in externally sponsored research and collaborate within the department, across the university, and externally.
The MAE Department offers a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. Within the Bachelor’s degree, concentrations are available in aerospace and energy systems. Additionally, minors are available in biomechanics and robotic systems. The Department also offers Master of Science and Doctorate degrees. The Department currently has 800 undergraduate students, 200 graduate students, 24 full-time faculty members, and a number of adjunct faculty.
