The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor Term (non-tenure track) position with a start date of January 2024. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, a strong grasp of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering, outstanding communication skills, and a passion for making meaningful, positive contributions to the undergraduate educational experience. Moreover, because this position emphasizes teaching, the ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching a broad range of undergraduate, mechanical engineering courses with some preference toward laboratory courses (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical measurements), as well as thermal-fluid sciences.
The J.B. Speed School of Engineering is home to eight departments, with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students. The university has an approximate total enrollment of 22,000. Located between Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Nashville, Louisville is the state’s major metropolitan area with a population of approximately 1.4 million.
