The David Crawford School of Engineering of Norwich University invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track position as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering beginning in July 2022. The initial contract is for the 2022-23 academic year and is renewable based on satisfactory performance review. Responsibilities include teaching the theory and practice of mechanical engineering to undergraduate students and working with colleagues in the school.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach a broad range of mostly laboratory-based undergraduate courses in the Mechanical Engineering Program with preference given to candidates who can teach in the following areas: manufacturing processes, mechanical measurements and instrumentation, thermal/fluid systems, computer aided design, and introduction to engineering.
In addition, the position will involve management and enhancement of laboratory facilities, supervising student projects, advising students, serving on department committees, or other related duties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with extensive teaching or industry experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching laboratory courses at the undergraduate level in a broad range of Mechanical Engineering areas: manufacturing, mechanical measurements and instrumentation, thermal/fluid systems, and computer aided design.
  • Relevant industrial and practical experience.
  • Experience with laboratory safety methods and procedures.
