Department Summary
The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is a billion-dollar initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries and the process of turning those discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation and beyond. Position Summary
The Reeder Lab explores chemistries and processing techniques of soft materials (such as smart polymers, elastomers, hydrogels, and composites), unconventional microfabrication techniques, and microsystem integration schemes for soft wearable and implantable systems. Ongoing projects include the synthesis of materials for biodegradable implants, untethered microfluidic systems, and soft neural interfaces. More information can be found at

The postdoc will be responsible for conducting research and technical activities related to ongoing projects in the Reeder Lab involving design, fabrication, and implementation of bio-integrated devices. The postdoc will also assist in managing lab equipment and provide technical expertise for associated research programs.

For the purpose of acquiring additional professional skills needed to pursue a career path in the chosen field, this position will have a formal mentor plan.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D in relevant engineering field
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills as evidenced by publication record

Professional Competencies

  • Demonstrated strong written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in cleanroom microfabrication
  • Expertise in polymer synthesis, processing, and characterization
