The Office of Student Development and Success (OSDS) at the William States Lee College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte is excited to announce openings for full-time, 9-month, non- tenure-track faculty positions at the Teaching Associate/Assistant Professor rank. These positions will play a key role in developing, implementing, and assessing the inaugural Common First Year (CFY) Curriculum, launching in Fall 2025. This curriculum will serve as the foundation for all first-year engineering students in the College.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Plan, develop, implement, teach, and evaluate introductory engineering courses within the CFY curriculum.
  • Utilize innovative teaching and active learning strategies to enhance student engagement, participation, and sense of belonging.
  • Communicate outcomes related to student learning and success, including faculty development, through publications, research, grants, or conference presentations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to OSDS Academic Success programs and activities.
  • Participate in program assessment and accreditation processes.
  • Provide service to the department, College, and University as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree, with at least one degree in an engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • A Ph.D. in engineering education or a closely related discipline, with experience in course development.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to teaching fundamental engineering concepts to first-year students.
