The University of Washington’s Chemical Engineering Department invites applications in computational science and engineering for a position at the rank Associate (Tenure-eligible), or Full (Tenure-eligible) Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The open position is a full-time appointment with 9-month service period.  Start date negotiable after September 1, 2024. Our school offers a highly collegial and collaborative culture, with broad interdisciplinary research ties across campus.

The University of Washington is a science and engineering leader in computation, modeling, and data sciences, from atmospheric sciences and oceanography to quantum chemical systems and protein design. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver high-quality teaching in the chemical engineering core curriculum, develop innovative and high-impact funded research programs of international repute, establish elective courses in their areas of expertise, and contribute to the goals and missions of the department, college, and university. The successful applicant will be expected to leverage our campus and regional research, training, and employment environment.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop a world class research and educational program in molecular computations and data sciences.

This position is ideally suited for a mid-career computational scientist or engineer with a distinguished track record who is ideally positioned to leverage the outstanding environment in Chemical Engineering, UW and the region to develop a world class research and educational  program in molecular computations and data sciences.

The base salary range for the position will be $13,000 - $19,000 at the Associate Professor level, and $16,000 – $29,000 at the Professor level per month for a 9-month service period, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with these positions may include a one-time relocation incentive
