Position Overview

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering (CPE) at the University of Kansas (KU) invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in either experimental or computational research that will complement the department and university’s current strengths in areas of energy and sustainable environmental technologies and/or biotechnology. Candidates who can strengthen existing research programs and centers in energy and sustainability are especially encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, energy engineering or a related discipline and demonstrate the potential to develop an independent research program. The successful candidate must also demonstrate a strong commitment to educate and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will conduct and publish original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the University, nationally and internationally.

The University of Kansas, School of Engineering (SoE) and the CPE Department value diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. In its continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the university encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups. We therefore seek a diverse pool of applicants in terms of gender, race ethnicity, veteran status sexual orientation and disability, who are committed to nurturing an inclusive environment. In Spring 2019, the KU SoE was one of only 29 universities to receive an inaugural ASEE Diversity Recognition Award.
