The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Utah has experienced significant recent growth, fueled in part by strong support from the State of Utah. The Department currently has over 40 faculty, has annual research expenditures as high as $11M, and has over 120 doctoral students enrolled. Current ECE faculty have founded or co-founded several successful companies, in line with the unique entrepreneurial spirit at the University of Utah, which has been consistently ranked as one of the top schools for startup creation. The Department has strong collaboration with the medical research community and industry. Salt Lake City is a global and diverse Metropolitan city with 1.2 million residents in the valley and has an outstanding quality of life and natural beauty; seven world-class ski resorts are within a one-hour drive, and Utah has five national parks.

Computer Engineering Faculty Candidates

The Department seeks applications to fill multiple tenure-track positions in Computer Engineering. Candidates at all levels and in all areas of Computer Engineering are encouraged to apply. The department is particularly interested in candidates with the potential to bridge to other areas of electrical engineering or related disciplines.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Candidates

The Department seeks applications to fill multiple tenure-track positions at all levels. The Department has more than doubled its faculty count in the past 10 years and has strong research programs in Solid State/MEMS/Circuits, Systems and Signal Processing, Computer Engineering, EM/Optics, and Power Electronics and Control. Our strategic plans specifically target areas such as quantum computing, AI/machine learning, hardware security and brain computer interface technologies and with particular focus on growth in Computer Engineering, Systems and EM/Optics. Candidates in these areas are encouraged to apply. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who can bridge different research areas. Additionally, candidates who demonstrate potential for leading a high-impact research program in any area of electrical and computer engineering or a tightly connected interdisciplinary field are also strongly encouraged to apply.

All candidates must have a strong teaching aptitude in core areas of our curriculum. Faculty responsibilities include developing and maintaining an internationally recognized research program, effective classroom teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and professional service.
