Postdoctoral Researcher position in Digitalizing Construction Workflows


The Department of Civil Engineering at the Aalto University is offering a Postdoctoral Researcher position in research on Digitalizing Construction Workflows. The goal of the research is to achieve situational awareness for all project stakeholders: everyone should have a shared understanding of the past, current and future situation picture. The research can focus on the digitalization end of the problem (i.e. models and ontologies for situational awareness, reality capture technology / sensors etc.) or on the process side of the problem – use of situational awareness to solve construction management problems, issues of collaborative planning or enabling lean construction through digitalization. The department has several funded research projects on related topics.

Research Group

The Postdoctoral Researcher position is located in the research group of Building Design and Construction. For more general information of the research and teaching of the Department, go to


Applicants must i) have completed (within the past five years) a doctoral degree in a related field, ii) have a strong background in lean construction or digitalization of construction or other fields related to the research topic iii) have sound knowledge in theme-specific methods. A strong publication record, experience in instructing or supervising doctoral and master students and Experience in team building and leadership are benefits in the application. Fluent English is required.
