PhD student and Postdoc in Nano-Bio Interactions

University of Hawaii at Manoa

We are recruiting responsible and self-motivated PhD students and/or Postdoc Fellows who are interested in experimental research at the interface of engineering, physical chemistry, nanotechnology, medical sciences, biophysics and biochemistry. The appointment starts in August 2018.

Our Laboratory of Biocolloids and Biointerfaces is currently supported by two NSF grants and funds from private foundations. Selected students will work on NSF supported projects described on the following NSF websites.

http://nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1254795

https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1604119

We welcome interested students from all backgrounds of Engineering, Chemistry, and Biology to apply. Although we are in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, our research is mainly on chemistry and nanotechnology, specifically colloids and surfaces, monolayers, bio-nano interactions, and biophysics. We are also working on instrumentation, including both software and hardware development. Hence, students with the background of mechatronics, thermofluids, and mechanical engineering are also welcome to apply.
