The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University seeks an outstanding individual specializing in the science of engineering of electroceramic materials for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position starting as early as August 16, 2018.
We are highly interested in candidates with demonstrated excellence in the design, synthesis and processing of innovative materials for dielectric, electro-optical, electrochemical, piezoelectric or other functional applications. Successful candidates will have achieved or be on a trajectory for international prominence and leadership in their research field and have the vision and skills to lead collaborative, multidisciplinary research efforts. Furthermore, we value individuals who have a commitment to fostering creative teaching and instructional methods to enhance our undergraduate and graduate curricula.
The NC State MSE department currently has 27 tenured or tenure-track faculty with 140 graduate students and 150 undergraduate students. Faculty have numerous opportunities for engagement with major research centers such as the DOE Power America Institute, NSF FREEDM and ASSIST Engineering Research Centers, the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics and the NSF Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics. Our materials research infrastructure include the Analytical Instrumentation Facility and the NC State Nanofabrication Facility (part of the NSF National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure) and the NC State High-Performance Computing facility.
